And because of their unbelief, he couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. -Mark 6:5
Our faith plays a huge role in our answers to prayer and the miracles we see every day. If we ask for things but never have the faith to believe that what we ask will be given to us then we are waisting our breath. The people of Jesus’ hometown did not believe that He was the Messiah. They doubted that someone like him, a carpenter, could be sent from God. This unbelief left them blind. They couldn’t see the miracles Jesus was pouring on others, and they certainly couldn’t witness the great things Jesus was capable of doing in their own lives because they didn’t believe in who He was and the power He possessed!
Without faith we are weak. We are only as strong as our belief in Jesus to help us, and guide us, and provide for us. If we don’t believe He is capable of bringing us relief, or healing our illness, or giving us that thing we always wanted, or standing with us in the fire, then we we won’t see Him working in those difficult moments. Our unbelief renders us blind and the credit for the good we see is given to coincidence or luck. God’s blessings and answers to prayer often goes unnoticed in the eye of an unbeliever. Don’t be that unbeliever!
