Whenever you enter someone’s home, first say, ‘May God’s peace be on this house. If those who live there are peaceful, the blessing will stand; if they are not, the blessing will return to you. -Luke 10:5-6

These were Jesus’ instructions when he sent the other 72 ahead of him. As I read this I am reminded that it isn’t my job to choose who to bless. As my days move, it isn’t my responsibility to pick who gets my blessings by the way they look or act, by what job they hold or what religion they believe in. I should treat all people with blessings and whatever happens after that is in God’s hands. I should never withhold God’s love just because I think someone is undeserving. There are too many unknowns to be playing the role of God. Only God knows how a blessing will affect a person and only His power can touch a person deep in their soul. We can rely on God to do the hard work. All we have to do is love. God will take that blessing and multiply it in the life of the person we bless, and if not, that blessing will return to us. It’s a win win! Thanking God for this reminder today as I deal with my kids who are in summer mode. Holding this dear to my heart as I get ready to go grocery shopping. Remembering His instruction as I deal with people I really don’t feel like seeing. Be a blessing! It’s all God has ever asked of us.
