Face It... You Just Aren't Good Enough!

You might as well face it, you're just not good enough! You will never measure up to the next gal. You will continue to fall short of perfection every day. Once again, you will give way to temptation. Yep, it's true. You just aren't good enough. And that's just the way God wants you!

All too often we get caught up in what can be called performance-driven Christianity. We subscribe to the idea that God loves us best when we are at our best. We also believe the reverse in that God loves us less if we sin or make a mistake. However, today I want you to know that you cannot, will not, and do not need to earn the love of Jesus. Romans 5:8 tells us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Did you catch that? While you were still a sinner Christ chose to die so that you could be made right with God. Living this life is not about what you do, but about what He did! Jesus endured the cross so you don't have to earn your place in heaven. One has already been reserved for you!

It's true that you are not good enough, but that is exactly how God wants you to come to him... broken, barren, messy, flawed. You don't have to clean yourself up first. You don't have to keep striving!

Today allow your mind to meditate on this verse, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) When you fall short today, fall into the arms of God knowing you are loved and accepted because of Christ's sacrifice. Instead of focusing on your failure, focus on giving thanks to Christ for his wonderful gift of salvation!
