Follow My Lead: The Decision Day 3

Yesterday we heard the invitation.

God spoke first.

"When you come looking for Me, you'll find Me. Yes, when you get serious about finding Me and want it more than anything else, I'll make sure you won't be disappointed."

But every invitation requires a response.

Today, the question is simple:

What will you do with it?

The psalmist gives us one possible answer:

"I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands."
Psalm 119:10

Notice that seeking is a choice.

God does not force Himself upon us. He doesn't manipulate or coerce. Love never demands. Love invites.

We are not robots programmed to obey. We have been given something remarkable: the freedom to choose.

Every one of us eventually answers God's invitation with one of three responses:

Yes.

No.

Not now.

For many people, "not now" lasts for years. We become distracted by careers, possessions, relationships, achievements, or the endless search for happiness in places that were never designed to satisfy our souls. We keep looking for love among the things of this world, hoping they will fill the ache that only God can reach.

But eventually we discover that what we were truly looking for wasn't success, comfort, or approval.

We were looking for Him.

When we realize that, our eyes begin to shift away from the temporary and fix on Jesus—the Author and Perfecter of our faith. He is the One who has gone before us, prepared the way, and now quietly says,

"Follow Me."

For Peter and Andrew, James and John, following meant leaving their nets behind and walking away from everything familiar. They physically stepped onto the road with Jesus.

For most of us, the call looks different.

Following Jesus doesn't always require changing your address.

It requires changing your direction.

It begins with one surrendered step.

One conversation.

One prayer.

One decision to trust Him more than yourself.

The beautiful truth is that heaven doesn't have to wait until after death.

Jesus invites us to experience His presence today—right here in the middle of ordinary life, right here in the middle of chaos, right here in the middle of unanswered questions. As we walk with Him, His peace begins to reshape our hearts until heaven starts touching earth through the way we live and love.

The invitation has already been given.

The path has already been prepared.

The Shepherd has already gone before you.

Now the decision is yours.

Will you follow His lead?

Make It Personal

If you were completely honest with yourself today, which response best describes your heart?

Yes.

No.

Not now.

If your answer is "not now," what is holding you back?

What would it look like to take just one small step toward Jesus today?
