Be Intentional

Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near. -Hebrews 10:24-25

Too often life gets so busy that we forget to do the things God has asked. We get pulled in so many directions between work and kids and projects and our own desires that we run out of time to interact with people and nurture meaningful relationships. It’s important that we get more intentional with our daily schedules. Of course we have to get our work done and take care of the needs of those who rely on us, but we must leave room for extra. No not every day, but like the scripture says above we must not neglect our meeting together as so many do. We must leave room in our schedule to check on that friend who we haven’t talked to in a while, or the friend who has been sick or struggling. There are people in our midst who need a smile, a handshake or a shoulder to cry on. There must be time set aside to be active in our churches and our communities, opportunities to love and serve those who don’t know God’s love. We are servants of Christ and so our lives should reflect that. If we are always going through our days with our heads down focused on our next job we will miss opportunities to love others and encourage them. We should set aside time to serve others as Christ has done for us. Encouraging friends to hold each other accountable, serve those who have nothing to give back, meet together to study God’s word, get together for fellowship and good company. The list can go on and the activities big or small. The important thing is we must not stop meeting together and encouraging one another as the times get harder to live our faith out loud.
